Sponsoring the Sensory Garden

No matter where you are on your aged care journey, Regis Aged Care provides the support you need.

With more than 25 years’ experience, Regis Aged Care is one of Australia’s leading providers of aged care with 63 homes nationally. We know that comfort and care go hand in hand, that’s why we always offer the pinnacle of care and support to our residents.

Outdoor spaces are proven to support health and wellbeing and can help reduce anxiety and depression. As part of Regis Aged Care’s Sustainability strategy, we have launched the ‘Regis Garden’ program to foster positive emotional change with residents while creating a greener and more sustainable environment.

Garden beds have been set up in 63 Regis homes with herbs and vegetables planted for consumption by residents and in the kitchens. Each home is also equipped with a worm farm to process food scraps in promotion of a circular economy.

The Regis Garden aims to have a positive impact on our residents by:

  • Producing fresh food
  • Enhancing their connection to nature
  • Enabling residents, employees and community members to socialise and interact
  • Strengthening links between the home and the community.

The Decoding Dementia is an initiative to inspire technology ideas which break down barriers for people living with dementia so they can remain socially-included, accepted, independent, able to access high-quality health care, and connected with people and places they want.

Dementia Australia has been a trailblazer in using technology to improve dementia care and we are proud to have led this project which should deliver even more solutions for people living with dementia. Through the process, people living with dementia, their families and carers, were involved in mentoring applicants and helping them to refine their value proposition.

The four winning entries were chosen by an expert panel and received a share of up to $200,000 in in-kind support, with Dementia Australia co-designing the support package with the winners based on their needs. In 2019 the Decoding Dementia winners are Matiu Bush for Audio Kinetic Jukebox; Nan Yu for My Dementia Companion; Nicc Johnson for Muru Music; and Anne-Louise and Mark Underwood for the MemBo Noticeboard.

Decoding dementia 2019 was organised by Dementia Australia, supported by the Australian Government of Health, and delivered in conjunction with Deloitte Australia.

Our diverse and representative membership gives LASA the ability to speak with credibility and authority on issues of importance to older Australians and the age services industry.

We are dedicated to meeting the needs of our Members by providing:

  • a strong and influential voice leading the agenda on issues of national importance
  • access to valuable and value-adding information, advice, services and support
  • value for money by delivering our services and support efficiently and effectively.

Our purpose is to enable high performing, respected and sustainable age services that support older Australians to age well by providing care, support and accommodation with quality, safety and compassion – always.

Dementia Support Australia (DSA) is a partnership led by HammondCare that brings together dementia expertise from across the aged care industry. It provides the Dementia Behaviour Management Advisory Service (DBMAS), Severe Behaviour Response Teams (SBRT) and the Needs Based Assessment Program for determining eligibility for Specialist Dementia Care Programs (SDCP) nationwide. Supported by the Australian Government under the Dementia and Aged Care Services Fund, Dementia Support Australia offers a free national service operating 24/7 365 days a year.

Our role is to improve the quality of life for people living with dementia and their carers. We do this by working in partnership with the person living with dementia and their care network to understand the causes and/or triggers that led to changes in behaviour. These behaviours can be a reasonable response to the environment, stimuli, and the interaction between people or a more complex interplay of medical issues as a result of their diagnosis. Dementia is experienced differently by each person and our work seeks to recognise and respond individually to these changes.

Leef Independent Living Solutions is a National retailer and distributor for the over 55's and Independent Living Markets in Australia and New Zealand. Offering an expanded range of independent living solutions and innovative products to support healthy ageing and independent living, for our elders and those living with a disability wanting to keep, regain or better their independence, and to carers and health professionals who often provide the front line of support for those in need.

Our vision is to create Australia's largest community centred assistive technology and independent living business, enabling customers to maintain independence and to rehabilitate in the home where possible. At the heart of our approach is to support rehabilitation and early intervention, where people can stay engaged and active in the activities of daily living. We believe that every day should add to who we are, not subtract from what we do.

We want to help people live the best life they can for as long as they can, so we have looked at life through 6 aspirational areas and have linked each with functional capabilities, independence, wellbeing and personal choice. With our local and imported clinically reasoned products covering the full spectrum of life’s activities - not just functional assistance but things to make everyday life a little easier, a little more pleasurable and sometimes just to save our energy for the things we love to do. Additionally we want you to share your challenges with us and we will find a solution to help.

Our mission is to help people see disability and ageing as a chance to explore more, live better and continue to feel a sense of worth and dignity.
